Wandsworth Property Sales - May 2012
House on Routh Road becomes the fourth most expensive in SW18
During the month of May 2012, 100 homes changed hands in the SW18 post code area at an average price of £536,472 according to figures from the Land Registry.
This sustains the recovery of the average price level over the half a million pound mark that was seen last month.
Three of those properties sold for over £1,000,000, with the most expensive of those going for £4,250,000 on Routh Road. This becomes the fourth highest price ever paid for a home in the Wandsworth area.
The May data from Land Registry's flagship House Price Index shows an annual price rise of 0.4% which takes the average property value in England and Wales to £161,677.
London remains the best performing area in the country with prices rising by 7.7% to £365,359 over the same period.
The most up-to-date figures available show that during March 2012, the number of completed house sales in England and Wales increased by 25 per cent to 58,609 compared with 46,742 in March 2011.
The number of properties sold in England and Wales for over £1 million in March 2012 decreased by 41 per cent to 501 from 845 in March 2011.
