Visitor shot in the prison car park

Police are appealing for witnesses and information following a murder in the front car park outside HMP Wandsworth.

The police were called at approximately 14:30hrs on Friday 1st May, to reports of a man having been shot on Heathfield Road, SW18.

Officers and London Ambulance Service attended and a man, believed to be in his 20's was pronounced dead at the scene. The victim is thought to have been a visitor on his way into HMP Wandsworth.

The police believe that they know the man's identity, but have yet to inform the next of kin.

Two men wearing crash helmets were seen fleeing from the scene towards Alma Terrace.

Officers from Trident are investigating. Anyone with information is asked to call Crimestoppers, anonymously on 0800 555 111.
