Knife Point Robber Arrested

"a well-known local gang member who used a knife to commit a serious offence against a defenceless schoolboy"

On Thursday 26th February at 4.25pm a suspect for a knife point robbery was identified by patrolling Safer Neighbourhoods Team Officers in the area of Whitlock Drive SW19.

The 18 year old, suspect was a prominent member of a local gang and was with other members. An attempt was made to observe the suspect whilst waiting for the arrival of additional police officers but suddenly the group broke up and ran away.

Police officers together with PCSO’s gave chase. The main suspect was detained following a foot chase. He was subsequently arrested on suspicion of robbery. (Beaumont Road SW19)

West Hill Safer Neighbourhoods Team Sergeant, Nigel Mussett said
‘This was an excellent piece of police teamwork combining PCSO’S and Police Officers. The combined local knowledge of all involved resulted in the identification and subsequent arrest of a well-known local gang member who used a knife to commit a serious offence against a defenceless schoolboy.

This clearly demonstrates that local Safer Neighbourhoods Team officers are not afraid to robustly deal with potentially violent suspects in the pursuit of keeping their local community safe”.
