Wandsworth Property Sales - August 2011
Prices averaging well above half a million pounds
The latest home sales reported to the Land Registry in the SW18 area show that prices are continuing to recover.
With 146 properties sold, the average price achieved during August was £582,954. This is above the levels seen in previous months when the average dipped below half a million but not yet back to the levels seen in the summer of last year.
London was only region in England and Wales to experience an increase in its average property value over the last 12 months to August according to the Land Registry. The average price rose by 2.1% to £348,686.
The national House Price Index shows an annual price decrease of 2.6% which takes the average property value in England and Wales to £162,347.
The most up-to-date figures available show that during June 2011, the number of completed house sales in England and Wales decreased by 13% to 54,776 from 62,714 in June 2010. The number of properties sold in England and Wales for over £1 million decreased by 28 per cent between June 2010 and June 2011, from 644 to 465.
