Pedestrian Killed In Collision With Lorry


Police appeal for witnesses in Balham last Thursday

Police are appealing for witnesses and information following a fatal collision in Balham last week.

Local police were called shortly before 16:00hrs by London Ambulance Service on Thursday 17 January to reports of a lorry in collision with a pedestrian in Balham High Road SW12 near to Balham Tube Station.

The male pedestrian who was in his 30s, was pronounced dead at the scene. The police believe they know the identity of the deceased but await formal identification.

A post-mortem examination was held at St George's Hospital Mortuary on Monday and cause of death was established as multiple injuries.

An Inquest was also opened and adjourned on Monday at Westminster Coroners Court.

The lorry driver stopped at the scene. There have been no arrests.

Officers from the Road Death Investigation Unit at Hampton are investigating and witnesses are asked to call them on 020 8941 9011.
