Wandsworth Trim Trail Gets £15k Upgrade

Battersea Park's new fitness facility will be ready this Summer

The Battersea Park Trim Trail, which provides free outdoor fitness facilities for local people, is getting a £15,000 upgrade.

Wandsworth's parks department has raised £10000 from the Marathon Trust, and will provide a further £5000 to upgrade the equipment.

Battersea Park is one of London’s busiest parks, and is expected to be used even more over the coming years as the Nine Elms regeneration gathers pace.

The council asked users of the trim trail last year for their views. 80 per cent of the people surveyed said they used the facility at least once a week, with comments including “it's already a valuable resource in the area” and ‘it's a proper trim trail for proper people”.

The upgrade will keep the natural look and feel of the area because its natural appearance was one of the aspects of the trim trail its users said they liked the most.

Work will start in late spring and is expected to be completed by early summer.

As well as the Battersea Park facility, there are trim trails in parks across the borough, and outdoor gyms in York Gardens, Heathbrook Park and Shillington Park in Battersea and Furzedown Recreation Ground in Tooting. For trim trail locations see www.wandworth.gov.uk/trimtrails.
