What? A street party, featuring a diverse line up of acoustic music across three stages

Where? In the street and on the pavements; the road will be closed to traffic
Why? To share a fun day, filled with LIVE music & entertainment, delicious food, cask ales and tonnes of stalls, whilst discovering more about this special South London street
The Traders' Association of Old York Road will host the 5th annual street party on Sunday 16th September 2012. This FREE event will feature LIVE music and delicious food & drink, from 11am til 5pm.
LIVE music has always been a central feature of the Old York Road event - visitors who have attended in previous years will remember the huge stage positioned at one end of the street. The street will again be closed to traffic for this special day. However the big stage will not be present this year - instead visitors will see three smaller stages, each featuring musicians playing acoustically (“Unplugged”!).
People’s understanding of “acoustic” music differs greatly and this will be explored at this event. Visitors will enjoy many genres of music, ranging from swing to pop and from folk to rock & roll; they expect to see visitors dancing in the street!
More than firty visiting stall holders will attend this event, selling a diverse selection of quality items such as Italian olive oil to Turkish towels. The bars, restaurants and cafes which line Old York Road will serve up delicious foodie treats from cuisine around the world - including Indian, Moroccan, Thai and of course, the best of British.
The event will also hold a huge Raffle with a big selection of fantastic prizes, all donated from traders on Old York Road and around Wandsworth. The proceeds of the Raffle will be donated to the chosen charity partner for the event: Help for Heroes. The winning Raffle tickets will be drawn on stage at the end of the day - visitors may buy tickets from traders on Old York Road in the run up to the event and on the day.
