Latest Nine Elms Scheme Unveiled

Market Towers Office Building to become new homes and a hotel

Plans have been revealed for the redevelopment of the Market Towers office building on the corner of Nine Elms Lane and Wandsworth Road.

The proposal is for a mixed use scheme including hundreds of homes, a hotel and a new public square with shops, restaurants and cafés. The new development is currently being referred to as One Nine Elms.

The site is located in the Vauxhall, Nine Elms, Battersea (VNEB) Opportunity Area - a vast industrial district in central London which is being transformed into a new residential and business quarter.

The site is owned by Green Properties. CIT has been appointed to as the development partner for the project.

The VNEB Opportunity Area includes 450 acres of land between Battersea Park and Lambeth Bridge on the south bank of the Thames . It is the most centrally located of the capital's designated regeneration zones.

The Greater London Authority's (GLA) planning framework for the area anticipates up to 16,000 new homes and 25,000 new jobs will be created as the district regenerates.

A VNEB Strategy Board has been established to coordinate the vast scale of new investment pouring into the area. It includes the district's main landowners as well as the planning and transport authorities.

This public-private partnership is working together to ensure this rapidly changing part of central London achieves its huge potential.
