Wandsworth New Stagers Present Blithe Spirit

A production of Noel Coward's comedy

Widower Charles Condomine gets more than he bargained for when he hosts a séance, in this out-of-this-world farce. Researching his new book, he and his second wife Ruth invite local medium Madame Arcati to their house. Both the Condomines and their guests, Dr and Mrs Bradman, are convinced she is a fake. But when Madame Arcati leaves, Charles gets a shock that sobers him up from his Martini-induced fug: his first wife Elvira is back from the dead. And, if that wasn’t enough, she has a plan of her own, and she’ll stop at nothing to achieve it.

Blithe Spirit is one of Noel Coward’s most famous comedies. It was first performed in 1941, starring Margaret Rutherford as the medium Madame Arcati, and has been performed numerous times since–including in the West End in 2014, when it starred Angela Lansbury as Madame Arcati.
