Police Warn Of Local Mobile Phone Thefts


Thieves make their getaway on bikes

Police are appealing for witnesses in relation to two offences on Culvert Road, Wandsworth.

The first offence occurred on 30th June, at approximately 12:10 pm. The victim was on the corner of Culvert Road and Rowditch Lane SW11, when two suspects on pedal cycles approached her from behind snatching her mobile phone.

The two suspects are described as black males, about 18 years old, wearing black hooded tops and riding mountain bikes.

The second offence occurred on 6th July 2012 at about 4:40 pm. The victim was waiting at a bus stop on Culvert Road. The suspect who was riding a pedal cycle on the pavement cycled past and momentarily stopped, snatching the victim’s mobile phone from her hand.

The suspect is described as a white male, about 15 years old, wearing a blue hooded top with the hood up.

Police are advising that when people are walking along the street they take basic crime prevention measures such as keeping mobile phones out of sight and being aware of surroundings.
