Local MP Asks Met Commissioner For Update On Gun Crime

Following shooting in York Gardens On March 29th

Jane Ellison, MP for Battersea, Balham and Wandsworth, has written to the Commissioner of the Metropolitan Police, Bernard Hogan-Howe, following the shooting in York Gardens on 29th March.

In her letter, Jane asked Commissioner Hogan-Howe for an urgent update on the Metropolitan Police’s investigation of recent gun crimes in Battersea and about the London-wide strategy for tackling gang crime.

Jane said: “The York Gardens shooting took place in broad daylight, at a time when young kids and their parents were making their way home. It’s a huge relief that none of them were caught by stray bullets.

“There has been a number of shootings in the area recently, which have left local residents very shaken. Although investigations are underway, I wanted to raise my constituents’ concerns about gun crime directly with the Commissioner. People in Battersea need to know what is happening to tackle this appalling spate of crimes”
