Witness Appeal Following Serious Sexual Assault


Police patrols stepped up in the area

Police are appealing for witnesses following a serious sexual assault which took place on Charlmont Road, near the junction with Himley Road at approximately 2.30am on Saturday 8th June.

The suspect is described as a black male between 25 and 30 years old, six feet tall with an athletic build and wearing baggy clothing and a dark coloured body warmer. He is said to have a London accent.

Officers would like to hear from anyone who was in the area at this time and who may have witnessed the offence.

Police patrols are being stepped up in the area and at local transport hubs over coming nights. The Police advise that while incidents such as this are rare, residents should always take care when walking late at night. Try to use well-lit and safe routes and avoid short cuts - always plan your journey home before you set out.
