E-Fit Released In Tooting Rape Case

Detectives investigating the rape of a woman in Tooting have released an e-fit of a man they are seeking to identify and speak with in connection with the incident.

Detective Inspector Andrew Wadey, from the Sexual Offences, Exploitation and Child Abuse Command said, "I am appealing directly to anyone who may recognise the man in this e-fit to get in touch and tell us who he may be. The e-fit is extremely clear and I am certain that someone will know him; he may even be someone close to you. Please help us identify him.

"This was a terrifying attack on a lone woman and it is really important that we catch him as soon as possible.

"A number of enquires have been carried out and we have managed to successfully obtain a DNA profile of the suspect. As we have a profile any information about potential suspects given to us can be quickly and easily eliminated or verified, so I would like to reassure anyone that is concerned about providing information."

Shortly after midnight on Wednesday 21 September a woman in her 20s was attacked by a man as she approached her car which was parked in Lucien Road. The suspect forced the woman into a house before raping her. He then fled the scene.

The suspect is described as a man of Asian appearance, between 20-25 years old, approximately 5ft 7inches tall and of slim build. He had a thin moustache. The suspect was wearing glasses, a red hooded top and light coloured tracksuit bottoms.

The victim was taken to a Haven and is being supported by specialist officers.

There have been no arrests and enquiries by Sexual Offences, Exploitation and Child Abuse Command continue.
