Santas Deliver Presents To Wandsworth Respite Centre
While training for Saturday's charity run in Battersea Park
Three super-fit Santas dropped in on local charity Certitude’s Respite Centre in Wandsworth earlier this week to deliver some early Christmas presents for staff and people staying there.
A team of 17 runners from online estate agency MyHomeGroup are hoping to raise £2,000 for social care provider, Certitude, by taking part in Battersea Park's Santa Run on December 8th. The runners incorporated their early delivery of festive goodies into their training programme.
Certitude provides respite services to Wandsworth families by offering short stays for adults with learning disabilities so that their relatives to can take a break and have some time for themselves.
Will Clark, Managing Director of MyHomeGroup and a Wandsworth resident, said, “Certitude provide wonderful support to local people with disabilities and we thought it would be a nice treat for Certitude staff and residents to drop in and say hello before the run on Sunday. The Respite Centre in Wardley Street is fantastic because it gives people an opportunity to mix with new people and experience different things, while their relatives who care for them can take a break. This respite can be so valuable in the build up to Christmas.”
The money raised by MyHomeGroup from the Santa Run will be spent on enriching the lives of the people supported by Certitude including new technology to support better communication, house refurbishment and extra trips and outings.
Seema Sharma, Certitude’s Corporate Partnerships Manager said, “We are absolutely delighted to have so much support from the MyHomeGroup team. As well as running for us on Saturday (December 8th), they have also pledged to support Certitude throughout the year with a range of volunteering and fundraising activities.
