Sadiq Khan's success in becoming London Mayor means that a new MP for Tooting will be elected to serve until the next General Election.
When Mr Khan announced his cadidacy for London Mayor, he pledged to stand down from his local parliamentary seat should he win.
The by-election is due to be held in mid-June and prospective candidates are already lining up. George Galloway has suggested that he could stand. A former Labour politician, Mr Galloway also stood for London Mayor as leader and representative of the UK Respect Party, and has been tweeting his intentions (see below).
Other prospective candidates for the marginal seat could include Dan Watkins, the Conservative Parliamentary Spokesman for Tooting, and local councillor and Wandsworth Council Opposition Leader Rex Osborn for Labour.Get this trending guys > #Galloway4tooting pic.twitter.com/69bobkZ7o4
