Blaze At Wandsworth Recycling Centre

Fire investigators are now looking into causes

A major fire has hit Wandsworth Recycling Centre in Smugglers Way.

Firefighters were called to the blaze at midday last Thursday (August 6th) and had brought the fire under control an hour later.

Thirty firefighters attended the blaze with crews coming from Wandsworth, Tooting, Fulham, Hammersmith and Chelsea fire stations. Machinery in the facility was damaged but nobody was hurt.

LFB inspectors will now investigate the cause of the fire, while a local firefighter is quoted as saying that it could possibly have been due to a build up of waste material.
