Have Your Say On Garratt Park Improvements
What would you like to see in your local green space?
Earlsfield residents who want input on how the facilities at their local neighbourhood park could be improved can now get take part in a public consultation.
The Council and its parks contractor, Enable Leisure and Culture, are seeking the views of local people about Garratt Park - what they like about it and what could be changed or improved.
This feedback will help shape future investment plans for this small pocket park and could see upgrades to its existing playground and ball games area.
Garratt Park currently offers play equipment for toddlers and older children, plus a table tennis table, bicycle circuit and hardstanding ball games area.
Money has already been set aside to carry out some works to improve the space but now fresh consideration is being given to further improvements that meet the needs and wishes of local people.
Parks and open spaces spokesman Cllr Steffi Sutters said, “Garratt Park is a lovely green oasis in this part of Earlsfield and is very popular with local families.
“It already has some good facilities but we think they could be improved yet further which is why we are asking local people what they think.
“We hope local residents will take part in our consultation and help shape future plans for this important and valuable green space.”

Funding for further improvements at Garratt Park could come from the Wandsworth Local Fund (WLF), which comprises money theCcouncil has levied on developers to help pay for community and neighbourhood infrastructure improvements across the borough.
Over the past three years more than £7.2m in WLF money has been spent on local initiatives including schemes to support safer communities, employment opportunities for young people, better pavements and improved parks and playgrounds.
Recent schemes funded this way include Christmas lights in town centres, new LED street lights, a major road and pavement resurfacing programme, repainting and pigeon-proofing Earlsfield railway bridge, refurbishing Putney Vale Cemetery and the Quest project providing intensive support to get young people into work.
Several public realm improvements will be carried out to smarten shopping areas like Putney High Street, Bedford Hill and Bellevue Road.
And several playgrounds have either already been, or are being, revamped, including Upper Tooting Park, Godley Gardens, Swaby Gardens and Leaders Gardens and playgrounds in King George’s Park, Wandsworth Common and Battersea Park.
The consultation coincides with Wandsworth’s “Love Parks” campaign which is championing the borough’s green spaces to encourage more people to visit and enjoy them.
