The Elvis Presley inspired 'All Shook Up'
Wandsworth-based theatre company the Cygnet Players are to perform the musical comedy All Shook Up this autumn.
Inspired by and featuring the songs of the King of rock ’n‘ roll himself, Elvis Presley, the show runs from Wednesday 4 September to Saturday 7 September at Putney Arts Theatre on Ravenna Road, Putney. Performances are nightly at 7.45pm with a 2.30pm Saturday matinee.
The time is 1955, somewhere in middle America, where one girl's dream and a surprise visit from a mysterious leather-jacketed, guitar-playing stranger help a small town to discover the magic of romance and the power of music.
This lip-curling musical fantasy is promising to have you jumpin’ out of your blue suede shoes with classic hits such as Heartbreak Hotel, Love Me Tender, Don't Be Cruel, Can't Help Falling in Love, and of course All Shook Up.
All Shook Up is written by Joe DiPetrio, with direction by Jamie Miller-Hughes, Musical Direction is by Mike Searle and Choreography by Kim Schenkelaars.
Director Jamie Miller-Hughes says, “All Shook Up is packed with wonderfully bold and colourful characters; a really entertaining script, underscored throughout by such irresistibly infectious music; and crucially, it contains a gigantic heart to wrap it all together.
“It is intrinsically fun and the story is packed with laughter and joy, whilst still addressing some important issues. For all its humour, it is a story about the changing views within a specific time in history.
“The cast have been so hard working and dedicated to their craft, and so generous with their time. I have been inspired, and feel truly lucky to have had the opportunity to work with each and every one of them.”
Tickets are £18 (£16 concessions) and can be bought from the Cygnet Players box office on 07941 448689, via www.cygnetplayers.com/box-office or by emailing cygnetsboxoffice@gmail.com.
