Egg-ceptional Easter Egg Trail In Battersea Park

Join the state-of-the-art egg hunt

The virtual world meets the real one at Battersea Park this Easter weekend in a state-of-the-art egg hunt – the first in a summer-long series of events celebrating Wandsworth’s parks.

Teaming up with augmented reality design experts Gamar, Wandsworth Council has developed a free interactive augmented reality app in which families will be able to follow a trail and use their smart phones to find virtual Easter eggs around Battersea Park.

There will be 15 stops and along the way the app will provide facts, figures and a little bit of history about one of London’s most beautiful parks, while there will also be the opportunity for games, quizzes and you’ll even be able to add your own drawings or create your own eggs.

“We are very excited about the app,” said Hannah Downing, who has helped build the trail. “It’s not only the first time we’ve tried anything like this before but it’s the augmented reality Easter egg trail in Battersea Park. It’s really easy to use and you can just download the app at home, come into the park and press ‘Play’. It is the perfect way to get out and about in the park this Easter weekend!”

This egg-traordinary walk through the park has come about thanks to the wizardry of Gamar which has previously created eye-catching visuals for such institutions as the British Museum, Madame Tussauds and the V&A.

“This is the first Easter egg trail we’ve ever done and the content is amazing,” said Venu Tammabatula, Gamar’s founder. “Besides all the animations and bespoke games etc Hannah has created lots of content about the park which I never knew before. So the app will be a great place to learn more about the park itself as well as being an extremely entertaining, fun activity.”

The Battersea Park Easter Egg Trail runs for four days from Friday April 19 to Monday April 22.

There are three special locations to find on the trail, the first 100 people to complete the challenge at any of the three locations will receive a chocolate egg.*
