Two Teenagers Charged With Earlsfield Murder

Police detectives investigating the fatal stabbing of an 18-year-old in Wandsworth last Friday (June 14th) have now arrested a 20-year-old man on suspicion of murder.

Seven people have now been arrested and either released under investigation or been remanded in custody for the murder of the young man named locally as Cheyon Evans.

Two teenagers have been sent for trial at the Old Bailey following an appearance at Wimbledon Magistrates' Court on Monday (June 17th). A 17-year-old boy from Merton and 18-year-old Mohammed Nadir Dafallah from Wandsworth, will now face prosecution this July.

Mr Evans was stabbed on Deeside Road on Friday afternoon (14 June).

Four other people – aged between 16 and 19 years old – have been released under investigation.

Police were called to Deeside Road at just before 4.45pm on Friday following reports of a stabbing. Cheyon Evans was found at the scene in a critical condition and died a short time later.

A post mortem held at St George's on Sunday gave the cause of death as a single stab wound.

Superintendent Richard Smith from the South West Command Unit said, "A young man has died in the most tragic of circumstances and our thoughts remain with his family... I would urge those who witnessed the incident, but who have yet to speak with officers, to please come forward and provide us with any information that you can."

An incident room is open under the Homicide and Major Crime Command as enquiries continue and officers from the South West Command Unit will continue to patrol the area and be on hand to speak with local residents as the investigation continues.
