Around 1000 students were evacuated from South Thames College after reports of a leak of an unidentified chemical substance this afternoon (1 March).

London Fire Brigade attended the scene at around 1.25pm and two people were treated at the scene apparently suffering ill effects. Fire crews did a sweep of the building but were unable to detect any elevated readings.

Wandsworth High Street was closed leading to substantial disruption in surrounding areas but has since reopened.
