Cyclist Hit By Refuse Lorry in Battersea Dies in Hospital

A cyclist has died in hospital after being involved in a collision with a refuse lorry this Monday evening (9 July) in Battersea.

The man, who the police believe is 34-years-old, was pronounced dead overnight after being hit in Queens Circus at around 5.45pm.

The incident resulted in a significant number of road closures including from Chelsea Embankment to Queenstown Road at the junction with Battersea Park Road. Severe traffic disruption followed and road users were advised to avoid the area. All roads have since reopened.

Police remain at the scene which was also attended by London Fire Brigade, London Ambulance Service and London's Air Ambulance.

Enquiries are underway to trace injured man's family.

The driver of the lorry stopped at the scene and was not arrested.
