Man Charged With Petrol Station Assault


Shop assistant was punched in the face

A man has been charged by Wandsworth police investigating an assault on a shop assistant at a petrol station in May.

Clive Martin, 48, of Cumberland Street SW1 was charged with assault by beating after the attack at the Queenstown Road Shell garage. He attended Westminster Magistrates' Court on Friday 19 August where he was bailed to appear at the same court on Friday, 18 November.

On Wednesday 11 May at about 5.25pm the victim, a 25-year-old shop assistant working in the petrol station on Queenstown Road, was punched after challenging a man who he suspected of stealing an item from the store.

The suspect punched the victim in the face, before making off on a bicycle towards Chelsea Bridge.

The victim did not require medical treatment.
