Open Mic Night For TEDx Wandsworth Pitches

Entrants get three minutes to deliver their idea to a live audience

The annual speaker conference TEDxWandsworth is opening its application process to encourage more speaker applications from around the borough. This year the event will hold three minute auditions at the live music event Sound Lounge in Tooting Broadway on June 29th.

TEDx Wandsworth is an independently organised TED event, a non-profit organisation which post talks online for free distribution under the slogan 'ideas worth spreading'.

Each entrant will have three minutes to pitch their idea to a live audience of TEDx fans and a judging panel made up of the organisers and TEDxWandsworth volunteers. All successful applicants will have the opportunity to turn their idea - with the mentorship of our speaker curators - into a TEDx Talk at TEDxWandsworth full day event on 25th November.”

Organiser for TEDxWandsworth, Kalpana Chauhan said, "This year we have already received a number of applications through the online process via our website. But as we go into planning our third event, we want to ensure that more people from diverse communities, professions and socio-economic backgrounds and ages are represented on our speaker slate.

Anyone who is interested in taking part should email us in the first instance to save a spot on the red circle. We have up to 30 spots available for 3 minute pitches.

"We are also reserving one of the performance slots from this process, so any upcoming talented musicians or performers are also welcome to apply."

Partners at the Sound Lounge, Keiron Marshall, said, "We are great fans of TEDx and TED Talks and welcome the opportunity to host TEDxWandsworth Open Mic Night auditions. The Sound Lounge is an arts centre and music venue that encourages and nurtures talent across London and the UK.

“We strongly believe in giving people from all backgrounds a platform to pitch and express their new ideas through great opportunities like this.”
