Students achieve excellent set of results
Merton 6th Form at South Thames College has announced some fantastic A Level results with the overall success rate rising to 93% (up from 90%). Pass rates have remained consistently high at 97% with high grades (A-C) rocketing to 72% (up from 63%). In addition, fifteen of the College’s twenty A2 Level subjects had 100 per cent pass rates.
These figures reveal a record level of success with the total passes and the percentage of those gaining high grades rising significantly over the past number of years.
Principal Sue Rimmer OBE congratulated all students celebrating their A Level success saying, “We are delighted to announce these fantastic results which show consistent improvement over the last three years. We are continuing to invest in Merton 6th Form to support our students and offer them an environment where they are motivated to achieve. Over three quarters of our students go on to higher education and we are very proud of the important role we play in preparing them for the next step on their chosen pathway.”
Robert Hobbs, Head of A Levels at the College added, “We are very pleased with the continued success of our A Level students. This excellent set of results, at a time of ever increasing competition for university places, will ensure our students can go to their university of choice.”
Amongst the students receiving their grades today was Patreese Kaya who gained an impressive AAB in Psychology, Sociology and Media Studies. She has won a place at Royal Holloway University of London to study Psychology. Patreese was thrilled with her results today saying “I was really nervous but now I know I am so happy and proud of myself. I am excited to go to uni and I’ve really enjoyed my time at Merton Sixth Form. I’ve learnt how to be independent, take control of my learning and have made great friends for life.”
