Residents reassured they will not be affected by company's collapse
Residents who live in two care homes in the borough that were being operated by Southern Cross Healthcare Group are being reassured that they will not be affected by the company’s collapse.
Services for the residents of the two homes in question - Ashmead in Putney and Heritage in Tooting - will now be provided on the same basis as before by Life Style Care.
Life Style have agreed to take over the day-to-day running of both homes and also to retain all the existing staff. This means that none of the residents should see any break or disruption to the services they already receive.
Life Style actually already own both of the buildings and provided the care provision at both homes until 2007 when they sold the care provision only, to Southern Cross. They had leased the buildings to Southern Cross and are well placed to step in straight away.
Wandsworth council, as a purchaser of places at both homes, will continue to monitor closely the care provided to all residents.
Wandsworth’s cabinet member for adult care service,s Cllr Jim Maddan said: “We are pleased that Life Style Care has stepped in so quickly and agreed to take over the running of both homes, and that they will be doing this with all the existing staff
“I am sure this will be a great relief to the residents and their families, who will appreciate the continuity of care this represents. The past few weeks when there have been persistent rumours and anxieties about the future of Southern Cross must have been a very difficult time for them.
“For our part, we will be monitoring events very closely indeed to make sure that all the residents continue to receive high quality care and we will be working with Life Style to support them in maintaining these high standards of care.”
Relatives who would like to speak to the council’s adult social services team to find out more about the changes should call Katrina Mackie on (020) 8871 8660.
