A police officer, who was serving with the South West Command Unit of the Metropolitan Police, has been charged with three sex offences.

PC Nick Whitcombe’s unit covers the borough of Wandsworth, but it is not known what duties, if any, he carried out in the area.

He was charged on Thursday, 13 February with one count of rape and two counts of sexual assault and is due to appear before Uxbridge Magistrates' Court on Tuesday, 18 March.

The incidents reportedly took place on Tuesday, 9 April 2024 while he was off-duty. PC Whitcombe was arrested on the same day and immediately suspended.

The police say that the two female complainants have been supported during the investigation.

The Met’s Directorate of Professional Standards has been informed and will rule on PC Whitcombe’s future after the conclusion of the trial .
