Another Colet Court Teacher Faces Charges
Patrick Marshall accused of indecently assaulting teenage boys
A former teacher at Colet Court School in Barnes faces charges in connection with Operation Winthorpe, the investigation into historic child abuse at the prep school and St. Paul's Boys School in Barnes.
There are sixteen charges of indecent assault on a boy under the age of 16 and one charge of gross indecency with a boy under the age of 14. The charges relate to seven victims and are said to have taken place between 1968 and 1981.
Patrick Vernon Marshall, aged 66, of Frensham Lane, Churt, Farnham was a geography master and rowing coach at the school. He is a director of a company which organises junior golf tournament.
He is the sixth person to be charged in relation to the investigation. Earlier this month Anthony Fuggle, a former classics master at the school, was given a suspended sentence for having images of children being abused on his computer.
In March of this year, Michael Frederick Ellis, age 69, of Bolton Road, Chiswick, was charged with one count of indecent assault on a 14-year-old boy in 1973, one count of indecent assault on a 16-year-old boy in 1992 and four counts of making indecent images. Carol Chandler, aged 53, of Telford, was charged with three counts of indecent assault and two counts of gross indecency on a boy under the age of 16, between 1983 and 1985.
There are reported to be 18 former members of staff under investigation by the Operation Winthorpe team with 170 victims having come forward.
Marshall is due to appear on bail at Westminster Magistrates' Court on Monday 29 June.
