Wandsworth Friends of Royal Trinity Hospice mark 30 years of support
A group of local fundraisers (pictured above) celebrated a bumper year at their 30th annual summer fundraiser for Royal Trinity Hospice.
The Wandsworth Friends of Royal Trinity Hospice have organised events and fundraisers in the local community since 1985, raising vital funds as well as the profile of Trinity, which is the only hospice delivering free end of life care to patients and their families across south west and central London.
At the Wandsworth Friends’ annual summer garden party, held in Trinity’s award-winning grounds, they marked their 30th anniversary in style by raising over £65,000. This takes the total the group has raised over the past 30 years to over £1 million.
The hospice, which is a charity, receives only a quarter of its annual income from the NHS. Income from events like the Summer Garden party therefore plays a vital role in allowing Trinity to continue to care for over 2,300 people with life-limiting conditions and their families every year.
Dallas Pounds, CEO at Trinity said, “I never fail to be staggered by the effort and creativity that the Wandsworth Friends of Royal Trinity Hospice put into their events and by the sheer generosity of their guests.
“Trinity is a community charity caring for anyone who needs us. Last night’s fundraising total is a just incredible and it’s so important to us to have members of the local community stepping up to support us so generously.
“My greatest thanks go to the Wandsworth Friends, who have repeatedly delivered beautiful events and raised frankly overwhelming amounts for Trinity. Their hard work last night, and over the past 30 years will enable us to continue providing our vital services to those who need us in our community.”
Emma Firth, chair of The Wandsworth Friends’ Summer Garden Party committee said, “The party was a huge success and one of the best yet. We’d like to thank everyone that attended as well as Savills for their ongoing support.”
The next event hosted by the Wandsworth Friends of Trinity will be their annual Christmas Fair at St Luke’s Church Battersea on 13 and 14 November 2018. For more information go to trinityhospicechristmasfair.org.
