Wandsworth is known for having a number of excellent schools and with application season coming up, it’s good to know which ones tend to be oversubscribed.
Figures show Graveney School was the hardest secondary school to secure a place at locally, with just 36.9 per cent of people who put it down as a first choice being offered a place.
It was followed by Ashcroft Technology Academy in Putney, where 46.9 per cent of first preferences were offered, according to figures released by the Department for Education.
Earlsfield Primary School was the hardest primary school to get into in the borough, with just over half (51.4 per cent) of those who put it as their first choice primary securing a place for this September.
Including second and third preferences, there were six applications for each of the 59 places offered there this year.
Sheringdale Primary School was the next hardest primary to get into locally, with just 52.9 per cent of those who put it as a first preference getting a place.
The data from the Department for Education is based on figures from National Offers Day, so data held directly by individual schools may differ, for example, because late applications were included.
This week Wandsworth council reminded parents whose children have just entered their final year at primary school that they now need to start thinking about secondary school choices, before the deadline on October 31.
Parents of children living in the borough must apply online or submit their application form to Wandsworth Town Hall by the October 31 deadline. This includes parents who are applying for a school place in another borough.
People who submit their choices on time will be told the outcome of their applications at the beginning of March 2021. Those who have applied online will receive an email notification while those who’ve submitted a paper application will receive a letter sent by first class mail.
The application deadline for applying for a Reception place for primary school is January 15, 2021.
