River levels are expected to rise through this morning and this afternoon because of persistent and heavy rainfall throughout the day. Between 20 and 30mm of rain is forecast and further isolated showers are likely to continue through to Saturday.

Groundwater levels are high in the area and the level of the Wandle is higher than normal. The council is closely monitoring the situation is ready to respond.

People worried about flooding are urged to sign up for Environment Agency flood alerts and get themselves and vulnerable neighbours prepared.
