Crime Busting Charity Supports Kids Fun Week

8-16 year olds can enjoy sports and leisure activities in Battersea Park for just £1

From Tuesday, August 5 to Friday, August 8, young people between the ages of eight and 16 can take part in a host of fun activities in the park thanks to the Battersea Summer Scheme’s Sport in the Park initiative.

This is a project organised by the Battersea Crime Prevention Panel and funded through the generous sponsorship and support of a range of local companies and organisations, including Wandsworth Council and the Metropolitan Police.

The daily list of sporting attractions include football coaching, street athletics, tennis, judo, football, archery, tag rugby, karate and boxing.

And when they tire of all those sporting endeavours youngsters can scale a climbing wall, get involved in dance workshops or dare to take on the assault course.

The aim of the project is to provide young people with constructive, interesting and worthwhile activities during the school holiday and encourage good citizenship.

The scheme has been running every year since 1992 and as well as providing safe activities that keep young people occupied and engaged in the summer holidays, and prevent them from becoming victims of crime, it also provides a welcome lifeline to families on lower incomes who may be unable to afford more costly holiday activities for their children.

The scheme is held at Battersea Park’s Millennium Arena and begins at 11.30am and continues until 4.30pm. Entry per day is just £1 and there is no need to book a place
