As part of Mental Health Month, South West London and St George’s Mental Health NHS Trust held a morning tea to raise funds for youth mental health services on Tuesday, raising over £450.00 for youth mental health services.

Sophie Bennett

Sophie Bennett, who sadly passed away in May 2016, spent time at Aquarius Ward and had admired the “remarkable dedication and care of the staff” that had looked after her. Sophie’s family wanted to honour her wishes by supporting the Trust’s Charity to help other young people going through the same experiences.

At the event Sophie’s father Ben spoke of the dedication of the staff on Aquarius ward:
“We got to know Aquarius ward very well … All the staff almost entirely without fail, from the domestic staff to the Consultants were caring and supportive and did their very best to try and help Sophie cope with her illness.”

Chief Executive David Bradley said:
“These donations will help make life better for patients and ensure we can continue helping to improve people’s lives. We hope the generosity and efforts of the Bennett’s will be an inspiration for the people who use our services and for staff, a powerful reminder of why we do what we do.”

The South West London and St George’s Mental Health NHS Trust Charitable Fund supports various projects to help people with mental health problems and help them to stay active and to be more involved in their communities and workplace.
