With information for visitors & patients at their fingertips
St George’s Healthcare NHS Trust has launched the Welcome to St George’s Hospital mobile phone app, putting all the information that patients, their friends, families and carers need at their fingertips when visiting St George’s Hospital in Tooting, south west London.
The app includes:
The app can be downloaded from the App StoreSM prior to coming to St George's Hospital.
The app has been developed in-house by the trust’s communications team, working with St George’s Healthcare patient groups, after patients told the trust that they would like more information available to them on the phones so that they always have the information they need with them.
The launch of this app follows the publication of the trust’s annual reports and quality accounts as interactive online documents, with versions optimised for mobile phones, tablet devices and eBook readers as well as desktop browsers.
Leanna Carl, a patient at St George's Hospital, said: "I'm never without my phone, and being able to access information on St George's Hospital on a device that's never more than five-feet away from me means I can access up-to-date information when I need it. It also means I don’t need to worry about which leaflets I need to remember when I leave home."
Peter Jenkinson, director of corporate affairs, said: “Coming to hospital can be daunting so we are always looking at how we can make things easier for our patients. There is a lot of information for patients and their families to absorb and this app will put everything they need at their fingertips. There has been a lot of input from patients in developing and testing the app, and their feedback will continue to influence it as we update it over the coming years.”
