Wandsworth Recognises Work Of Putney High Staff


For their work in the community

Long-standing Putney High School PE teacher Maureen Hayes has been honoured with an Active Wandsworth Sports Award.


Mrs Hayes pictured right with her award, received the prestigious award for her voluntary services to sport and physical activity. The award ceremony took place at the Civic Suite in Wandsworth Town Hall. Mrs Hayes was nominated by the  Wandsworth community in recognition of her commitment to sport over the past 20 years.

Headmistress Dr Denise Lodge said:
“This is a wonderful recognition of Mrs Hayes commitment and excellent teaching in this field and we are overjoyed for her, it is a lovely culmination at her final year in teaching before retirement.”

Jill Johnson, Teaching Resources Officer at Putney High School, has been rewarded for her 30 years’ long service to the Girl Guides.

Mrs Johnson still volunteers for the Girl Guides and is currently a leader of the 5th Putney Guides - girls aged 10-15 years. Many of the girls in her unit are also Putney High School pupils.

She was presented with a silver brooch and certificate by the District Commissioner Jodie O’Regan at the Putney District Thinking Day Event for 90 girls and leaders.
