...we will introduce you to your ward-based policing team and provide you with ward news, crime prevention advice and how you can contact your local SNT officers.
Introducing West Hill Safer Neighbourhood Team
We are the Metropolitan Police Safer Neighbourhoods team dedicated to your Ward. We will listen to your concerns on crime and anti-social behaviour and work with you to find lasting solutions to the problems. We regularly consult with local residents and set Ward priorities.
We run a Ward surgery on the first Saturday of every month at Montfort Place Community Hall where local residents can meet and talk to us on a one to one
basis about any concerns they have.
A Ward Panel, made up of members of the local community, meet regularly with us to set our priorities. The current ward priorities are: drug dealing and using around Montfort Place and Beaumont Road, anti-social behaviour by youths around Montfort Place and theft from motor vehicles across the ward.
Motor Vehicle Crime
We are aware that in the last couple of months there has been a rise in motor-vehicle crime on our ward. We are committed to bringing this down but we are limited without your help.
PLEASE follow these guidelines to keep your vehicle as safe and free from the risk of crime as possible.
* Don’t leave anything on display in your car such as satellite navigation systems, including it's bracket, personal documents, loose change, mobile phones, laptops or other valuables.
*Wipe away suction pad marks from the windscreen, as thieves will look out for these.
*Take all your belongings with you when you leave the car, even if it’s only for a couple of minutes.
* Empty your glove compartment and leave the compartment open to show that there is nothing of value inside.
*Lock all doors, windows and sunroofs. Remove your stereo.
Drugs & Guns
Acting on intelligence received from a variety of sources about drug dealing the team successfully executed a search warrant in the West Hill area in June this year. During this search we recovered a firearm and ammunition along with other offensive weapons from the address and subsequently suspects were
arrested. Soon after this West Hill Officers were involved in a chase that led to another firearm being retrieved from an address to which the suspect ran into. We are not a ward usually known for gun crime and we are confident that these are isolated cases but if anyone does know of guns being housed anywhere on the ward please contact us as soon as possible or call Crime stoppers anonymously.
The Team had a good day at St Paul's Church Summer Club

To improve your access to all Metropolitan Police services in non-emergency situations, we have introduced a new easy to remember contact number: 0300 123 1212.
Visit the Met’s new crime mapping website and find out more about crime in your local area enabling you to take an active roll in making your community safer, http://maps.met.police.uk/
If you have information about crime in your area and you’d rather not speak to the police, you can give information anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555111. Crimestoppers is an independent
charity.
