First 2012 Eco Fund Deadline Aproaches

£5,000 given away each year by Wandsworth Council - next applications May 18th

Borough-based groups and projects that need money to help improve the local environment still have time to apply for a grant from the Wandsworth Eco Fund.

The council-run £5,000 fund is open to bidding from applicants who want to increase recycling, encourage sustainable travel or reduce energy usage, waste or carbon emissions through their own schemes and initiatives.

In 2011, the council funded 17 projects including a recycling scheme at Brandlehow School, in Putney, composters for allotments at for King George’s Park, a garden shredder for the Ethelburga Garden Club in Battersea and a course of carbon awareness workshops run by Transition Town Tooting.

Council officers are available to discuss ideas for projects with residents before they complete their funding application – which could improve their chances of being awarded funding.

Applications can also be made via www.projectdirt.com/group/wandsworthecofund - where visitors can read about some of the projects that previously received funding, and get involved in other local projects and events.
