ASLEF cancel action after 'progress' in talks over 'work-life' balance

The 24 hour tube strike by drivers that was due to take place this Thursday (5 October) has been suspended.

ASLEF’s Finn Brennan said that ‘significant progress’ had been made during talks this week chaired by the conciliation service Acas.

The union had claimed that management had reneged on commitments to improve the ‘work-life’ balance for tube drivers and not delivered on promised opportunities to work a four-day week and reduce the number of weekend shifts.

LU's director of network operations Nigel Holness said it had "delivered on all our commitments to provide the best possible work-life balance for our staff" and that they would continue "to explore options that will further improve work-life balance for our staff’.
