Details of service changes on tubes and trains for the festive period

London Underground and Overground

Christmas Eve, Monday 24 December A Saturday service will operate on most of the network. Buses will run until just after midnight.

Christmas Day, Tuesday 25 December There will be no service on the entire network.

Boxing Day, Wednesday 26 December A reduced service will operate on most of the network; there will be no service on London Overground.

The ASLEF union have called a Tube strike on Boxing Day. If the strike goes ahead, there is likely to be significant disruption to Tube services.

New Year’s Eve, Monday 31 December - Free travel will be provided on most services on New Year’s Eve from 23:45 until 04:30.

New Year’s Day, Tuesday 1 January A reduced service will operate on most of the network.

District

From Monday 24 December until Tuesday 1 January, there will be no service between Earl’s Court and Kensington (Olympia). In addition, from Thursday 27 until Sunday 30 December, there will be no service between Edgware Road and Wimbledon and between Hammersmith and South Kensington. This is to carry out track replacement and line upgrade work.

There will be no service on the entire line from Thursday 27 until Sunday 30 December while we carry out line upgrade work.

Northern line

On Wednesday 26 December there will be no service between North Acton and Ealing Broadway due to Network Rail engineering work.

District

Saturday 22 December and Sunday 23 December 2012
No major engineering work is planned in the South West Trains area on these days and the normal timetable will run.

Christmas Eve Monday 24 December 2012

South West Trains will run a near normal Saturday service until early evening. Some extra “morning peak” trains will run and there will be alterations to some other early morning services. Many trains will run with more coaches than normal.

Christmas Day and Boxing Day

South West Trains will run NO SERVICE on Christmas Day or Boxing Day.

The railway does not close down over the holiday period. The conductor rail will remain "live" and Network Rail may run engineering or maintenance trains.
It is never safe to go on the tracks.

Thursday 27 December and Friday 28 December 2012

South West Trains will run a near normal Saturday service. Some extra “morning peak” trains will run and there will be alterations to some other early morning service. Many trains will run with more coaches than normal.

Saturday 29 December and Sunday 30 December 2012

South West Trains will run a near normal timetable on these days, except for the engineering work shown below. Some trains will run with more coaches than normal.

Monday 31 December 2012

South West Trains will run a near normal Saturday service. Some trains will run with more coaches than normal.

A special service will run after midnight (New Year’s Day)

Tuesday 1 January 2013

South West Trains will run a SUNDAY service.

Extra trains will run during the early hours of New Year’s Day for revellers travelling home from the New Year celebrations in Central London.

Roads

The Congestion Charge will be suspended from Tuesday 25 December until Tuesday 1 January, including the three days between Christmas and New Year. The daily charge for driving in the zone will apply on Wednesday 2 January 2013.

Greenford Flyover on the A40 will be closed from Monday 24 December until Tuesday 1 January, in order to undertake essential bridge maintenance work.
