Check Before Using Trains During ASLEF Industrial Acton
Overtime ban will lead to the cancellation of some services
RMT staff on the railways will be stricking later in the month

Train companies are warning about potential disruption to their services from Monday 3 to Saturday 8 July due to industrial action by ASLEF.
Union members working for 16 Train Operating Companies including South Western Railway (SWR) and Great Western Railway (GWR) have been instructed not to book on for overtime or volunteer to work on rest days.
SWR says that most trains will be running but the Hounslow Loop will not be operating. However, stations such as Chiswick, Kew Bridge, Brentford and Isleworth will be served by trains from Waterloo to Weybridge via Hounslow which will run as normal during peak hours but be reduced to an hourly service during non-peak hours.
Elsewhere on the SWR network, services will usually be reduced to hourly in off-peak periods with a small number of cancellations during the morning and evening peaks. Some first and last trains may also be cancelled.
The company said it would be updating its journey planner with revised service information on Friday 30 June covering the period to the end of Friday 7 June. Journey planners will be updated with the amended timetable for Saturday 8 June by the middle of next week.
Services are likely to be busier than usual throughout those days affected by the industrial action. Passengers headed to the first week of Wimbledon should expect services to be especially busy and should allow extra time for their journeys.
Stuart Meek, Chief Operating Officer at South Western Railway, commented, “We’re sorry that customers will again face disruption due to industrial action next week. Anybody planning to travel should please check their whole journey before setting off and be aware that services are likely to be busier than usual.
“Instead of making numerous short-notice amendments and cancellations to our standard timetable, we have decided to provide greater certainty for our customers by creating an amended timetable that we have a high degree of confidence we can reliably and safely deliver each day.”
The RMT union has also called nationwide strike action for three dates: Thursday 20, Saturday 22, and Saturday 29 July. SWR passengers should expect severe disruption to train services on these dates and may wish to consider changing travel plans now if possible.
SWR says it is assessing the impact this RMT strike action will have on services and will publish more information for customers as soon as possible.
GWR is taking a different approach during the ASLEF strike and adhering to its existing timetable but admitted this is likely to cause some short-notice alterations or cancellations. The Night Riviera Sleeper service will not run in either direction from Sunday 2 July until Friday 7 July, resuming on Sunday 9 July.
On the RMT strike days a reduced, revised timetable will operate across the GWR network with many lines having no service at all. Services will start later and only operate for a limited period during the day.
