Young Thirsty Street Trees Need Your Help

Whilst most residents are enjoying this dry summer weather young trees aren't

"Street trees planted this year and last year are especially at risk of drying out. They need extra water to survive this long spell of hot dry weather" says Wandsworth Tree Warden, Mary-Claire Mason.

The most recently planted ones have posts next to them painted red on top and those planted last year have yellow painted posts. If there’s a young tree near to where you live or work, please give it a bucketful or so of water a couple of times a week, put the water down the black pipe at the base of the tree to get the water to where it’s most needed.

"Watch it flourish!" she says.
