24 Hours Left To Register To Vote In Southfields By-Election


Residents in Southfields must be on electoral roll to qualify to vote

To make sure they are entitled to vote in the March 29 poll, residents have until midnight tomorrow (Wednesday, March 14) to submit their application forms to the borough’s electoral services office.

There is also a 5pm deadline tomorrow for receipt of completed application forms for people wanting to request a postal vote.

Those who are eligible to vote in this by-election include people born in this country, along with citizens of qualifying Commonwealth countries, plus those from the European Union and British overseas territories.

To register to vote, or check that you are already registered or to apply for a postal vote, Southfields residents should call (020) 8871 6023 or email electoral@wandsworth.gov.uk.

The by-election in Southfields is being held following the resignation of Cllr Lucy Allan.

Six candidates are standing for election to the council. Abid Choudry has been nominated as an Independent candidate, Kim Caddy for the Conservative Party, Josh Kaile for the Labour Party, Bruce Mackenzie for the Green Party, Strachan McDonald for the UK Independence Party and John Munro for the Liberal Democrats.
