Showing at the Point Pleasant pub on Thursdays and Sundays
"God Loves a Trier" is local hostelry The Cat's Back's theme for its free film screenings throughout November.
The pub's team has put together a feel-good programme of new and classic celebrations of the art of perseverance this month, starting with all-round everyday hero Forrest Gump (Sunday 6th, 6pm), followed by the 'world's worst singer' Florence Foster Jenkins (Thursday 10th, 8pm) and civic pioneers Suffragette (Sunday 13th, 6pm).
Next, rags-to-riches biopic Straight Outta Compton (Thursday 17th, 8pm) transports us to 1980s LA, where sheer perseverance is a matter of life or death for Dr Dre, Ice Cube and the NWA crew. Then hop on a lawn mower for an epic journey in David Lynch's The Straight Story (Sunday 20, 6pm), take a leap of faith with wannabe ski champ Eddie the Eagle (Thursday 24th, 8pm), and end this month's theme in a glorious finale with postman-meets-God, Looking for Eric (Sunday 27th, 6pm).
