Bus and Train Fares Up Again

Boris bangs on about all the investment he has made in transport to justify increased fares but I'm struggling to think of one improvement made to transport in the Wandsworth area over the last five years.Also what happened to the all the extra revenue that came in from the Olympics. We were told that there was a record number of people using the tube. Wouldn't it have been fitting to use this bonus to compensate Londoners for the inconvenience they experienced at the time?Maybe we will be getting Boris Bikes at some point but only when they have doubled charges.

The statement issued by Network Rail yesterday mentions an upgrading of the track from Queenstown Road as well as an increase in the capacity of suburban rail services which may or may not include us but as there seems to have been work going on to lengthen some platforms it probably does.

You are forgetting the new orbital service on London Underground which will serve Wandsworth and Clapham Junction from Surrey Quays.

The fare rises are more than eaten up by the increase in staff costs due to pre-agreed wage increases. Despite that more strikes are being threatend over the Christmas holidays.

I also can't think of specific improvements in the area but there is the proposal to extend the Northern line to Battersea and Nine Elms so we may be getting some extra public transport services admittedly in the very distant future.
