Kimber Road Adventure Playground

This weekend the Adventure Playground closes for good.  The Council maintain that it will reopen in the spring but it will no longer be a staffed Adventure Playground.  The skate park will be extended but a better skate facility could be provided by developing the unofficial site in Wandsworth Bridge roundabout.  According to skateboarders and BMXers who use the roundabout, this would be welcomed.  They do not welcome the Kimber Road plan.Wandsworth are also closing York Gardens and Battersea Park Adventure Playgrounds this weekend, ignoring a petition of around 4000 signatures (and rising).

What were the terms that the Kids Company was offering to run the playgrounds on?

Unfortunately, York Gardens has already been demolished.  Kimber Road is due to be demolished in December. This is despite the stated wish of Kids Company to run all 3 Adventure Playgrounds as they were and fully staffed.  On the Wandsworth Against Cuts website you can see photos of the young people helping to build and repair structures - experiences which are impossible without supervision or in a high rise flat.
