I had thought that the point about the courts was that they agreed a punishment to fit a crime.If people who live in council accommodation have an additional punishment handed out by the local authority, that is just downright unfair. Particularly, given that the punishments handed out so far for involvement in the disturbances are much harsher than for comparable crimes at other times.If we really are saying that the punishment given to those who own their own homes is less than the punishment of those who rent from the council, then is it really surprising that we have riots? I do not condone criminality but I also abhor one rule for the rich and another for the poor.
