Jim, I rember the Barges well in 1947 i moved down from Chiswick high rd to edensor gdns were living in the last flat on the top floor i over looked the Old Jettey.Barges were unloaded there by a large STEAM crane.You wouldoften see 6 to 8 barges fulley loaded being towed along bythe Tugs to Brentford Docks,one tug was called the Genrailbut cant rember the other tugs name.?

When the electric trams first arrived in Chiwwick..1901..about the time the Queen died..they terminated at the horse troughs beside the fountain..in the middle of the Kew Bridge juncion.It was an old Kew Bridge..and a new one ..the existing one ..was opened by King Edward 7th a few years later.When I was at Strand on the Green School in 1947..there were two lads in my class who lived in Spring Grove. Matthews? and Edwards?The latter was nearly drowned after School one day..when he played on those wooden planks..that lead onto the barges.Hugh will probably remember those!PS: Thanks for straightening my wonky tram map!

I folding the map up..its in my dad's library...and placed it into the Canon 3200F scanner I have..and pressed the buuton "File". After the whining noise of the scanner..a chart appeared on screen,..and ..from the selection of options offered..I clicked "Save" and then clicked to MY PICTURES. from then on it was the usual path via img etc.

Jean so glad you enjoyed this. If I go to the end of my road and then up a bit of a hill I can see Mt. Saint Helens just fine. I drove up to Mt. Saint Helens year before last, absolutely fantastic sight. So much has already grown back. I had ash on my car the day it first errupted. It is getting ready to give us another display of it's might any day according to the nightly news.

That's clever Audrey..and just like the Vyborg and Waterford  ones on the Brentford Forum..the picture changes each time onereturns to the message...ie it gets updated quite often.Just to think this technology was beyond us once!Its good that Jean has joined in the fun...and its always good to hear from her.

Jean: But there a bit slow for the pace of life in Ealing!!and anyway..we got rid of all the horse troughs years ago!
