Wandsworth Museum is Closing

Ignore the spin. The reality is that Wandsworth Museum is being shut down and the premises are being taken over by a private nursery. The idea that the museum is being 'moved' to Battersea Arts Centre is a nonsense. If you shut the National Gallery and moved all the exhibits to the Tate then you wouldn't claim the National Gallery still existed.It looks like the Hintze Foundation cash which was donated to keep the Museum denies the Council a totally freehand in this matter but there is no point in pretending this is good news.

Have to confess to not having fully visited since it moved to the new location. I did pop in once but remember being a bit surprised how expensive it was - with world class museums a short bus ride away it was much cheaper to go into central London with the children than visit the local museum. Regret not having done so now though.
