This week marks the start of the Chancellor Rishi Sunak’s ‘Eat Out to Help Out’ scheme, where diners can receive a 50 per cent discount up to £10 on their meals every Monday to Wednesday throughout August.

But with so many of us cosying up to our pets through lockdown, have you wondered which restaurants will also allow you to bring along your four-legged friend?

Fear no more. Vaiva Vinciunaite is the General Manager at Megan’s, situated in the new Circus West Village development by Battersea Power Station.

The popular riverside restaurant is taking part in the latest pet-friendly scheme and also has dog beds available for four-legged friends, as well as treats and water bowls.

She told the Local Democracy Reporting Service that the restaurant has been “very busy” since the scheme started.

While the cafe and restaurant has been successful offering deliveries and takeaways throughout the lockdown, Ms Vinciunaite said that breakfast on Tuesday morning (August 4) was “unusually busy”.

“It’s great actually,” she said.

The restaurant has been included in a list of the top dog-friendly restaurants offering the discount near Battersea Park, compiled by the dog food company tails.com.

Other recommendations for dog-owners include:

Putt in the Park

Situated in Battersea Park itself, Putt in the Park is popular with dog owners wanting a quick bite to eat as well as those who want to use its mini golf.

Manager, Mattia Esposito told the Local Democracy Reporting Service that the restaurant has been doing well throughout lockdown due to its location in the middle of the park, but he is hoping the ‘Eat Out to Help Out’ scheme will further boost sales.

He said: “Battersea Park is not really a place where you plan to go ahead, you decide in the morning to go there, and then maybe want to stop for a pizza there. So it’s something people don’t really plan in advance but fingers crossed it’s all going to be fine.
